Connecting entrepreneurs in-demand of affordable technology resources to skilled technology students

JJ DiGeronimo, Founder
TECHSTUDENTS.NET

JJ DiGeronimo’s unique business and site, TechStudents.net, provides technology resources to assist any non-profit, small business or larger corporation.  TechStudents.net bridges the gap between businesses seeking affordable technology staff and tech-savvy college students seeking real-world experience.

In 2004, JJ was mentoring small businesses and nonprofits in need of technology solutions while teaching technology courses at a community college.  She quickly realized that many of the entrepreneurs’ technology issues and projects could be completed more cost effectively with the help of tech students. She started TechStudents.net to automate the process and to-date, more than 1000 tech students and small businesses are registered on the site.

TechStudents.net is the only site of its kind that effectively and economically enable companies of all types and sizes to post tech opportunities specifically for tech-skilled college students across multiple states and schools.  Since some technology projects can be performed remotely, TechStudents.net is linking businesses and students nationwide for both on-site support and virtual work.

With more than 12,000 site visitors each month and 285 colleges, universities, and vocational schools represented, it is easy for a business to locate a tech student capable of solving technical problems and helping to improve the bottom line.  In addition to connecting companies and students, TechStudent.net also provides valuable information for small businesses, such as useful links and business tips.  Additionally, with proceeds from TechStudents.net, JJ will be awarding the first of many technology scholarships in fall 2005.

TechStudents.net has been featured in national and regional publications and online media, including Entrepreneur Magazine, Women Entrepreneurs in Science and Technology, Potomac TechWire,  the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, to name a few.  JJ was recently named a recipient of SmartBusiness Magazine’s Innovation award for TechStudents.net.

A History of Implementing Technology Solutions

Since 1993, JJ has worked in the technology arena for Fortune 1000 companies and technology start-ups.  At Sprint and Accenture, she designed computer networks for companies such as Carolinas Medical Center, BellSouth and Sprint PCS.  JJ then joined Hill Associates to teach LAN/WAN design, TCP/IP, and Internet technology to electronic engineers at Motorola, MCI, and SBC.  At Inktomi, an infrastructure software start-up in San Francisco, she integrated software intelligence into computer networks to increase productivity, build market share and decrease operational costs for clients such as BellSouth and Bank of America.

Utilizing her 12 years of technology experience, JJ now also educates entrepreneurs and small businesses at many local and national conferences including Consortium of Small Businesses, International Economic Development Council for Entrepreneurs and WorldWIT.  She is passionate about sharing technology advice, website improvement tips, and hard-to-find online resources, which provide immediate results for any business.  JJ has connected over 350 small businesses with affordable resources while advising tomorrow’s IT innovators.

JJ lives in the Cleveland-area with her husband.  Her hobbies include travel, hiking, poker and networking.
